BanglaSnap OCR

Privacy policy

Effective October 7, 2026 · Developed by Sheikh Shakil

Your content stays on your device

BanglaSnap OCR processes selected webpage areas and uploaded images locally in your browser. The developer does not receive your screenshots, images, or recognized text.

Purpose

BanglaSnap OCR extracts Bangla and English text from a webpage area deliberately selected by the user or an image deliberately uploaded by the user. It provides editable text for copying.

Information handled

When you start area selection, the extension captures the visible active tab. It processes the selected screenshot region and visible webpage text inside that selection. It also processes images you explicitly choose for image OCR and remembers your recognition language and enabled or paused preference. Captured content may contain personal information; it is processed only to fulfill your OCR request.

How information is used

Selected content is used only to recognize text and display an editable result. Preferences are used only to remember your settings. The extension does not monitor your browsing history or collect interaction analytics.

Storage and retention

A screenshot is held temporarily in Chrome session storage and removed when the result panel retrieves it. An unused capture is removed when discarded, replaced by a new capture, or the browser session ends. Selected images and OCR results remain in temporary browser memory while the OCR interface is open. Closing the interface releases that content. Language and enabled-state preferences remain in Chrome local extension storage until that storage or the extension is removed. The OCR engine may cache packaged language data locally; this cache does not contain your screenshots or recognized text.

Sharing and transmission

BanglaSnap OCR does not send screenshots, uploaded images, recognized text, browsing activity, or preferences to the developer or third parties. It has no advertising, analytics, tracking, account system, or remote OCR service. All OCR code and language models are packaged with the extension. Copying text writes it to your device clipboard only when you click a copy button. Opening an external website link is handled by your browser and that website's own privacy practices.

Your choices

You choose which area or image to recognize. You can pause OCR, close the result panel, or uninstall the extension. Review OCR results before relying on them; recognition can make mistakes.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. User content is used only for the disclosed OCR purpose, is not sold or used for advertising or lending decisions, and is not made available for human review by the developer.

Policy changes

This policy will be updated if the extension's data practices change. Any new data handling will be disclosed before it is introduced.
